INTRODUCTION

The government plans to overhaul the personal injury compensation system to save millions of days spent on legal wrangling and hundreds of millions of pounds. Following a consultation on the personal injury claims process in April 2007, the government has yet to publish its response. The issue is controversial, although all stakeholders do seem to agree that the current system does not always deliver for claimants. Gunpowder Media together with RJW and Mobile Doctors set-up a market leaders’ debate to examine the issues put to a panel of industry experts from the ABI, CII, the Law Society, APIL and individuals from insurers, law firms, claims management companies, Citizens Advice and the government.
